Wheat stem sawfly infestation influences volatile chemical profiles for wheat. Gavin E. Peck, David K. Weaver, and Wendell L. Morrill, Department of Entomology, Montana State University, Bozeman, MT 59717
The responses of wheat plants to infestation by Cephus cinctus Norton, the wheat stem sawfly, are being investigated. The primary data collected is the amount of volatile chemicals produced by infested and uninfested wheat plants over time. These volatile chemicals were collected from living plants and analyzed by coupled gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GCMS). Possible applications for this collected data will also be presented.
