Development of an internet-based model for predicting the distribution of invasive plant pests

Glenn Andrew Fowler and Roger D. Magarey. USDA-APHIS-PPQ-CPHST-PERAL, 1017 Main Campus Drive, Suite 1550, Raleigh, NC

An Internet based climatological model is being developed for predicting the distribution of invasive plant pests. The work is a cooperative project between USDA-APHIS, North Carolina State University and a commercial weather provider, ZedX, Inc. The model will be used by USDA-APHIS to assist in making regulatory decisions regarding invasive plant pests. The model will be used by NCSU to assist farmers in implementing efficacious plant pest control programs.
