Non-target organism testing with genetically modified insect-control crops for ecological risk assessment: Regulatory requirement and science-based approaches

Jian-Jun Duan, Monsanto Com, 800 North Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO

In this presentation, I will first review the current non-target organism testing paradigms required by U.S. Regulatory Agencies for genetically modified insect control crops and then discuss the scientific bases underlying the current non-target organisms data requirement. Finally, I will present information on the scope and design of scientifically sound non-target insect studies with transgenic Bt crops.

Species 1: Bacillales Bacillaceae Bacillus thuringiensis
Keywords: Biotechnology, Risk assessment
