The purpose of this study was twofold. First, we used cytochrome oxidase II (COII) gene sequence to determine species and verify subterranean termite morphology-based taxonomy. Then we determined the species range and ecological niches throughout the state of Ohio. We discuss these data in terms of insights into subterranean termite gene flow, phylogeny and speciation.

Species 1: Isoptera Rhinotermitidae Reticulitermes flavipes (Eastern subterranean termite)
Keywords: mitochondrial DNA
