We investigate the relationships bewteen North American cicada genera and species based on sequence information. We attempted to isolate and determine genetic sequences from dried material using procedures that have been used successfully in cicadas. We compare the relationships suggested by the molecular data to the current morphologically based taxonomy.

Species 1: Homoptera Cicadidae (cicada)
Keywords: Taxonomy
