The Michigan Department of Agriculture emerald ash borer survey program

Michael M. Philip, Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division, Michigan Department of Agriculture, Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division, P.O. Box 30017, Lansing, MI

The Emerald Ash Borer, Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), is a highly destructive, exotic pest of ash trees (Fraxinus spp.) recently discovered in southeastern Michigan. For the protection of the North American ash resource, the Michigan Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with other state and federal agencies, has developed an Emerald Ash Borer Response Plan, aimed at the containment and eradication of the Emerald Ash Borer. As part of this effort, the Michigan Department of Agriculture has initiated a survey program for the purpose of accurately delineating Michigan's Emerald Ash Borer infestation and detecting outlying populations early in their development.

Species 1: Coleoptera Buprestidae Agrilus planipennis (emerald ash borer)
