The migratory locust ,Locusta migratoria L. 1758 is widely distributed throughout Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. It is a major pest in sugarcane fields in Khuzestan province. This research was carried out during 1998 – 1999 on crowding effects on morphometeric, biologic characteristics and also color of migratory locust under laboratory conditions. The males and females collected from sugarcane fields and hatchings were obtained from eggs that had been laid by females to be named F1. Hoppers were subjected to six different densities (1,3,6,15,50,100 per cage). For identification the subspecies of Khuzestan migratory locust seven infested fields (three infested sugarcane and four infested rice fields)were selected. Thirty characteristics (of morphometric, biologic, number of generation and diapuse) in the males and 25 characteristics in the females were examined. The data were analysed by clustering method in Minitab program, the results were compared with the other world's subspecies of Locusta migratoria. Crowding effects were measured on the basis of F/C, H/C ratios, hopper coloration, adult longevity, number of egg pods per female, number of eggs per pod and percentage of activity per adult. This research was continued until F2 generation and showed that population density appeared low and late effect in population of Locusta migratoria in Khuzestan province. The results showed that there is one subspecies in khuzestan province and the population had high correlation with Locusta migratoria migratorioides occurred in Pakistan, India and Africa.
