ABSTRACT:

The historic Tzu-Su Temple of San-Shia was originally built in 1769, rebuilt in 1947 due to severe termite damage, and has been treated with various insecticides for the past five decades. Baits containing 0.5% hexaflumuron were placed onto active infestation of the Formosan subterranean termite in the winter of 1999, and by May 2000 all active infestations in the Temple were eliminated. In-ground Sentricon stations were placed in the Temple perimeter in the summer of 2000, and from which C. formosanus activities were twice detected, baited and eliminated. Another aerial colony was detected through a routine inspection in the summer of 2002, and was treated using additional aboveground baits (Recruit AG).
