Phylogenetic relationships among Bactrocera species

Paul T. Smith, California State University, Department of Biology, Bakersfield, CA and Srinivas Kambhampati, Kansas State University, Department of Entomology, 123 West Waters Hall, Manhattan, KS.

Phylogenetic relationships among several Bactrocera species were inferred based on multiple mitochondrial genes. We found that the subgenera Bactrocera and Zeugodacus to be paraphyleytic suggesting a need for further studies on the genus Bactrocera.

Species 1: Diptera Tephritidae Bactrocera
Keywords: phylogenetics, fruit flies
