Diversity and evolution of the chlamydopsine Histeridae

Michael S. Caterino, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, 2559 Puesta del Sol Rd, Santa Barbara, CA

Chlamydopsinae is one of two primarily myrmecophilous subfamilies of Histeridae. This Australasian group has received very little study but recent collecting has revealed a wealth of undocumented species and higher level diversity. This talk will present an overview of morphological diversity in the subfamily, outline some initial phylogenetic and biogeographic patterns, and discuss parallels (and contrasts) with other myrmecophilous groups of histerids.

Species 1: Coleoptera Histeridae
Keywords: myrmecophily, morphology
