Movement of late instar Ostrinia nubilalis from male corn plants not expressing a cry gene to female plants expressing a cry gene could contribute to Bt resistance in O. nubilalis. Experiments designed to simulate a hybrid seed production field were conducted to determine the influence of larval phenology on movement and establishment on Bt plants. Data on larval migration, establishment, and development will be presented. These data will be used to determine the stage of larval development at which the male host can be destroyed following anthesis to minimize larval movement to Bt plants.
Species 1: Lepidoptera Crambidae Ostrinia nubilalis (European Corn Borer)
