The North Dakota IPM crop survey: Expanding our horizon

Phillip A. Glogoza, North Dakota State University, Department of Entomology, P O Box 5346, Fargo, ND and Marcia P. McMullen, North Dakota State University, Department of Plant Pathology, Walster Hall, Fargo, ND.

A statewide crop survey was expanded in 2002 to five major crops in North Dakota. Crop stage, insect and disease situations were reported during critical times of the growing season based on a crop and pest scouting calendar. The survey expanded the use of GPS for location of survey fields and GIS for graphic interface of pest occurrence and severity in the state. Survey summaries were presented through weekly newsletters, daily updates on the internet, an area wide listserver, and linked to internet based forecasting models where available.

Species 1: Homoptera Aphididae Aphis glycines (soybean aphid)
Species 2: Orthoptera Acrididae
