Over 200 monitoring sites, consisting of in-ground stations and surface ground boards, were established in five different soil and vegetation regions across Oklahoma, ranging from the extreme northwest (arid short-grass prairie; elevation 951 m; annual precipitation 38 cm; 200 frost-free days) to the extreme southeast (shortleaf pine forest; elevation 149 m, annual precipitation 115 cm; 240 frost-free days). Species identification, distribution across the state, and wood consumption rates will be discussed.
