Stable flies have been trapped from 1998-2002 on rangeland. These sites range from 5 kilometers to 50 kilometers from any confined cattle. Careful searches of the rangeland surrounded by the traps revealed no stable fly breeding areas. We conclude that stable flies migrate considerable distances from breeding sites.
