A preliminary listing of the Heteroptera attracted to lights in Shark Valley, Everglades National Park is presented. Night collections of these insects have been ongoing at this location for the past two years. These are the initial findings of a long-term survey designed to provide a better understanding of the heteropteran fauna endemic to the Everglades, with the ultimate goal of early detection of exotic species. To date, 74 species representing 20 families have been identified, including one new state record
