P. Wesley McCardle, Ralph E. Webb, and Jeffrey R. Aldrich. Agricultural Research Service - USDA, Chemicals Affecting Insect Behavior Laboratory, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Beltsville, MD

There are over 30 species in the mosquito complex active at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. We have evaluated several standard mosquito traps against this complex with special attention given to the invasive species Aedes albopictus (Skuse) and Ochlerotatus japonicus (Theobald). Time, site characteristics, and trap type influenced the makeup of the trap catch for each trapping period at each trap site.

Species 1: Diptera Culicidae Aedes albopictus (Asian tiger mosquito)
Species 2: Diptera Culicidae Ochlerotatus japonicus (Asian bush mosquito)
Keywords: trap, invasive species
