Patterns of onion maggot Delia antiqua (Diptera: Anthomyiidae) adult activity in relation to onion field edges in New York

Benjamin Werling and Brian A. Nault. Cornell University, Department of Entomology, New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva, NY

Onion fly activity along field edges with and without bordering forest was investigated. Sticky traps extending in transects from these edges were used to monitor adult activity through all three generations in 2002. Data will indicate whether an edge effect exists in relation to adult activity, and whether landscape features such as bordering forest modify this effect.

Species 1: Diptera Anthomyiidae Delia antiqua (onion maggot, onion fly)
Keywords: onion maggot, insect movement
