Utility of the entomogenous fungus Metarhizium anisopliae as a biocontrol agent against Reticulitermes flavipes and R. virginicus

Brian T. Forschler, University of Georgia, Department of Entomology, Athens, GA

Laboratory and field trials with the fungus M. anisopliae demonstrated that this fungus will cause mortality in termite populations but it will not elimate a colony.

Species 1: Isoptera Rhinotermitidae Reticulitermes flavipes (Eastern Subterranean Termite)
Species 2: Isoptera Rhinotermitidae Reticulitermes virginicus (Dark Southeastern Subterranean Termite)
