Northern fowl mites were collected from hens on 23 caged-layer poultry operations throughout southern California. Mites were exposed to pesticide residues on glass surfaces in the laboratory and mortality was assessed at 24 h. Relative to a susceptible population, field populations were often extremely resistant to permethrin, and some populations were quite resistant to tetrachlorvinphos/dichlorvos (RaVap) and carbaryl (Sevin).

Species 1: Acari Macronyssidae Ornithonyssus sylviarum (northern fowl mite)
Keywords: acaricides, poultry
