Phylogeny of Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) based on larval morphology

Vasily V. Grebennikov, Department of Zoology and Entomology, University of Pretoria, Department of Zoology and Entomology, City of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa

The superfamily Scarabaeoidea includes 14 families: Lucanidae, Passalidae, Trogidae, Glaresidae, Bolboceratidae, Pleocomidae, Diphyllostomatidae, Geotrupidae, Belohinidae, Ochodaeidae, Ceratocanthidae, Hybosoridae, Glaphyridae and Scarabaeidae. Larvae of all but three (Glaresidae, Diphyllostomatidae and Belohinidae) families are known. My work is to do the phylogenetical analysis of the superfamily based on larval characters. Currently, I am in the process of gathering data for the matrix and will discuss resulting cladograms.

Species 1: Coleoptera Scarabaeidae (Scarab beetles)
