Weste L. A. Osbrink, Formosan Subterranean Termite Research Unit, USDA-ARS, Formosan Subterranean Termite Research Unit, 1100 Robert E. Lee Blvd, New Orleans, LA

Dispersal flights from two populations of Formosan subterranean termite were monitored throughout their swarming season in New Orleans, LA, 1999-2002. Differences and similarities between the populations, temporal patterns, correlation of weather conditions, and sex ratios are detailed. Multiple swarms from each population occurred. In some instances the two populations swarmed at the some time and in other instances one population would swarm and the other would not. The largest swarm produced a trap catch of over 4000 alates. Sex ratios varied from 60 % to under 40 % with their being 48.6% females overall

Species 1: Isoptera Rhinotermitidae Coptotermes formosanus (Formosan subterranean termite)
