Control of household ant and roach problems with consumer bait products

Dangsheng Liang, Apex Bait Technologies, 50 Trailview Court, San Ramon, CA

Bait products have become one of the most popular tools for controlling indoor ant and cockroach infestations. This presentation will provide an overview on the active ingredients, product form, product brand, and product lines of the popular ant and roach baits available to consumers. Most cockroach baits provide good control of cockroach problems due to the advancements in non-repellent insecticide actives and bait formulation. In contrast, controlling ant infestations with baits is more problematic, mostly due to the large number of pest ant species to be controlled. I will contrast ant baits with cockroach baits on their performance and uses. And I will discuss some potential problems and some future perspectives of the bait products.
