Cooperative Learning is the instructional use of small groups so that students work together to maximize their own and each other’s learning. Workshop topics will include the Cooperative Learning (CL) essential elements: positive interdependence, individual and group accountability, face-to-face interaction, teamwork skills, and group processing -– presented in a workshop format. The professor’s role in using informal CL (short-term, ad hoc groups), formal CL (highly structured task groups), and CL base groups (long-term study groups) will be examined.
