All in the family: Island endemic species and cosmopolitan pests in Cydia spp. (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

The genus Cydia includes pest species, such as coddling moth (C. pomonella) and pea moth (C. nigricana), that are found throughout the world, but also species endemic to remote island groups such as Hawaii. Despite this disparity in ranges, the uniformity of feeding habits and ecologies (infesting reproductive tissues) has allowed this group to exploit resources in similar patterns throughout their respective ranges.
