Effects of herbaceous field borders on beneficial and pest arthropods in adjacent corn and soybean fields

Various herbaceous plant community treatments in conservation field borders are being investigated for their effects on beneficial and pest arthropods in adjacent corn and soybean fields. Arthropod abundance is assessed via sweepnet, vacuum, pitfall and visual samples and field border impact on crop yield is measured.

Species 1: Lepidoptera Crambidae Ostrinia nubilalis (European corn borer)
Species 2: Coleoptera Chrysomelidae Cerotoma trifurcata (bean leaf beetle)
