Insect outbreaks in southern hardwood forests

Several insect species that are normally not considered to be serious pests have completely defoliated large tracts of trees in the south this year. Pests, damage and natural control agents are figured. Reaction options, especially for Gluphisia in cottonwood plantations, are discussed.
