Characterization of a 56 kDa neuropeptide from Drosophila melanogaster

Christopher Luppens, Xiaoyi Jin, and Qisheng Song. University of Missouri-Columbia, Department of Entomology, 1-87 Agriculture Bldg, Columbia, MO

The developmental expression profile and the immunolocalization of a 56 kDa neuropeptide in Drosophila melanogaster was analyzed through a Western blot and immunocytochemistry using O1C10 mAb as a specific probe. The 56 kDa neuropeptide was isolated from the brain of D. melanogaster through a combination of immunoaffinity and 2-D gel analysis. A partial amino acid sequence analysis and the functional bioassay of the neuropeptide are in progress.

Species 1: Diptera Drosophilidae Drosophila melanogaster
