Spinosad has several desirable eco-toxicological qualities that make it ideal for use in and around livestock housing and human structures as a granular fly bait. Small-cage laboratory trials show that spinosad granular fly bait provides efficacy against house flies equivalent to or better than organophosphate and carbamate fly baits at 12-48 hours post-exposure. These results were confirmed in small room tests on house fly populations. Field trials in poultry houses also demonstrated that spinosad granular fly bait is an effective tool for management of house fly populations.
