Effects of an insect growth regulator, pyriproxyfen (Knack, Valent USA), on nymphs, pupae and adults of the onion thrips, Thrips tabaci (Lindeman), were tested in the laboratory. Pyriproxyfen was applied on thrips only, leaves only, and both thrips and leaves. When first and second instars were fed with treated leaves, they continued feeding and developing and pre-pupated, but died when pupating. When pre-pupae were treated, a few did not pupate successfully. It appears that adults showed no sign abnormal when they were fed with pyriproxyfen-treated leaves. There were no effects on pupae and adults then they were treated with pyriproxyfen.
