The Colorado potato beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say) is known to be a serious pest of potatoes. This investigation was designed to explore the feeding preference of this insect on four members of the family Solanaceae under field growing conditions. Crops utilized were peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplants. Data are based upon numbers of beetles present on these plants, and the percent feeding damage they caused. Information on host plant preference may be useful in designing a trap crop control strategy for certain members of the Solanaceae.

Species 1: Coleoptera Chrysomelidae Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say) (Colorado potato beetle)
Keywords: potatoes, Eggplants
