DNA analysis of mitocondrial COI gene sequences of Hymenoptera

Peter Alasky, Natural Science Division, Alderson Broaddus College, Natural Science Division, Campus Box 2096, Philippi, WV

We used the suborder Apocrita and obtained representative species of mitochondrial COI fragments. The superfamilies Chalcidoidea,Evanioidea,Vespoidea,Tenthredinoidea,Ichneumonoidea,Specoidea,Sclioidea,Chrysidoidea,Trigonaloidea,Nematocera were examined to provide diversity to our study. Nentrez was used to gather the DNA sequences of these superfamilies. GCG and Mega were used to do the DNA analysis. Base frequencies were calculated and phylogenetic trees were constructed to infer the evolutionary relationships among these hymenopteran species.

Species 1: Hymenoptera
Keywords: COI, Hymenoptera
