Effect of transgenic corn pollen on worker honey bees

Anne Valdes Hanley, Walter Pett, and Zachary Huang. Michigan State University, Entomology Department, 243 Natural Science, East Lansing, MI

We examined the effects of pollen collected from transgenic corn plants, non-transgenic corn plants, and pyrethroid treated corn plants on the behavior and development of worker honey bees. The parameters tested were the development and mortality of worker eggs, larvae, and adults. We also examined the foraging behavior of adult worker bees after feeding them the aforementioned pollen treatments.

Species 1: Hymenoptera Apidae Apis mellifera (honey bee)
