Haimbachiini Landry (Lepidoptera: Crambidae: Crambinae) comprises several genera of stem-borers in Gramineae and is most diverse in the global tropics and subtropics. The systematics and biogeography of the tribe are reviewed with focus on the Nearctic fauna and economically important taxa, in particular Eoreuma loftini (Dyar), the Mexican rice borer. Reanalysis of a prior higher-level cladistic analysis clarifies the tribe's relationship to other stem-boring crambines, and a species-level analysis of the tribe is presented. The Nearctic genera are diagnosed, and strategies for dealing with multiple shortest trees are discussed.
