Biology and management of Brachymyrmex patagonicus Mayr (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

Laboratory trials were initiated to investigate the efficacy of bait formulations against B. patagonicus.  Active ingredients included in this trial were abamectin B1, hydramethylnon/S-methoprene, boric acid, sodium tetraborate decahydrate.  All treatments and controls were replicated four times each for a total of 32 replications.  Mortality counts were taken at regular intervals for 15 d post-treatment.  Results indicate that gel baits are more efficacious against B. patagonicus than granular baits.
