Various host plant characteristics influence the abundance of flower thrips and their natural enemies. These factors include flower abundance, morphology and chemistry. Here we examine the seasonal abundance of Frankliniella flower thrips and the predator Orius insidiosus in five pepper varieties that differ in flower morphology and chemistry, and number of flowers.

Species 1: Thysanoptera Thripidae Frankliniella occidentalis (Western Flower Thrips)
Species 2: Thysanoptera Thripidae Frankliniella tritici (Eastern Flower Thrips)
Species 3: Thysanoptera Thripidae Frankliniella bispinosa
Keywords: Pepper
