Black queen cell virus cloning and sequencing

Allison Lillie, Scott Camazine, and Joachim De-Miranda. Pennsylvania State University, Department of Entomology, 556 ASI Building, University Park, PA

A North American isolate of black queen cell virus (BQCV) was cloned and sequenced. Data obtained thus far shows this sequence to be about 90% identical to the South African isolate of black queen cell virus (GenBank accession AF183905). Portions of the genome will be subcloned into bacterial protein expression vectors for the production of monoclonal antibodies for use in virus diagnostics and genome expression studies.

Species 1: Apis mellifera (honey bee)
Keywords: BQCV, honeybee
