Transfer of non-repellent termiticides among Formosan subterranean termites

Thomas G. Shelton and J. Kenneth Grace. University of Hawaii at Manoa, Plant & Environmental Protection Sciences, 3050 Maile Way room 310, Honolulu, HI

Movement of non-repellent termiticides among workers of the Formosan subterranean termite was quantified using mortality of untreated nestmates in a donor-recipient model. Donor workers were exposed to sand treated with 1, 10 , and 100 ppm (wt a.i./wt sand) each of Fipronil and Imidacloprid. Donors were then exposed to untreated nestmates (recipients), and mortality assessed at 15 days. Investigations of concentration, duration of treatment, and colony effects were examined.
