Initial field release of the saltcedar leaf beetle, Diorhabda elongata: Impact on saltcedar and extent of beetle dispersal

The leafbeetle Diorhabda elongata from China and Kazakhstan was released against saltcedars earlier this year at specified field sites in six southwestern states. Release of the insects was standarized among the research sites and the extent of their dispersal and impact on the plant populations is presented.
