Developing an integrated pest mite and disease management (IPDM) program on Florida citrus

Carl C. Childers, Michael K. Simms, and Arturo Goldarazena. University of Florida, Citrus Research and Education Center, 700 Experiment Station Rd, Lake Alfred, FL

Four growers previously on pesticide only programs were switched to an IPDM program. The goal is to monitor and document arthropod pest populations, greasy spot control and optimize beneficial mite populations. Effective disease control is essential while minimizing control of pest mites. Results to date are presented.

Species 1: Acari Eriophyidae Phyllocoptruta oleivora (citrus rust mite)
Species 2: Acari Eriophyidae Aculops pelekassi (pink citrus rust mite)
Species 3: Dothideales Mycosphaerella citri (greasy spot disease)
Keywords: Integrated Pest Management
