Impact of the new insect growth regulator noviflumuron on eastern subterranean termite survival and feeding response

Laura Karr, Ed King, and Amy Griffin. Dow AgroSciences, 9330 Zionsville Road, Indianapolis, IN

A new benzoylphenylurea insect growth regulator, with the proposed common name of noviflumuron, demonstrated excellent termiticidal activity in laboratory continuous and limited-duration exposure assays. The compound's potency and speed of action both showed significant improvements over the commercial standard hexaflumuron. In addition, noviflumuron had excellent palatability when offered to worker termites at a wide range of rates and on various substrates.
