Development of economic threshold for seed-feeding bugs on Canola

Studies have been conducted in northern Colorado to determine the effect of false chinch bug (Nysius raphanus) and lygus bugs (primarily Lygus elisus) on yield of canola. Trials involved different canola cultivars infested at varying rates of these insects.

Species 1: Hemiptera Miridae Lygus spp (plant bugs)
Species 2: Hemiptera Lygaeidae Nysius raphanus (false chinch bug)
